Now in its 23rd year, the unique and highly prestigious Zumtobel photographic competition, in which entrants are invited to demonstrate their photographic talent using a dedicated APP, is now open for entries. Since its inception, more than 16,000 architects have entered the competition, providing great images that have helped make this a ‘must do’ in the architectural calendar. This year’s theme is ‘Own The Light’, and Zumtobel is looking forward to even more imaginative photos as the competition grows in popularity.

To enter, simply register via the Zumtobel website and an email will then be sent to you with a link to download the APP. All that’s left to do is sign in – it’s totally free and Android and iOS compatible. Then comes the fun part; get creative with your images, but don’t forget that there are only 24 exposures and the use of light will make all the difference.  If you need inspiration you can take a look at some previous winners on the dedicated Instagram and twitter accounts.

Your images will then upload automatically to the website where you can view both your own and others. Entries will be judged by a seven-person panel made up of journalists and architects. The top 20 finalists will be invited to a presentation event where they will be presented with a framed copy of their picture. If you need more incentive, there will be some exciting prizes for the top three entries. Last year almost 6000 photos were uploaded (4,000 up on last year!), of which 3000 were unique entries.
