Elfin Kitchens has supplied 117 Economy Plus (B-100-sMos-K) kitchens to Poulson House – a new-build studio apartment development in the heart of Stoke. Elfin also supplied five accessible compact kitchens for wheelchair-friendly studios, meeting the inclusive design requirements of the Equality Act 2010. Designed and manufactured for the needs of the student accommodation market, the kitchens were installed in all the studio apartments, which are intended for students attending Staffordshire or Keele Universities.

The one-metre wide Economy Plus kitchens were each supplied with an integrated refrigerator, large storage drawer, sink and drainer, tap, 20L combination microwave oven and grill, as well as a built-in hotplate and eye-level cupboards to provide extra dry storage. For the accessible apartments, the specially designed kitchen units are 1.6-metre wide and feature height-adjustable worktops using sliding brackets fitted securely to the wall.

The principle building contractor for Poulson House was Kettle & Talbot. Commenting on the project and Elfin Kitchens, site manager Craig Hancock said, “Poulson House was on a strict timescale to ensure delivery for the start of academic year. We needed suppliers that were flexible and reliable to work with; Elfin Kitchens were both of these things – and more.”

Elfin compact kitchens are renowned for their durability and robust design, thanks to a powder coated steel construction, high-quality appliances and stainless steel tops.
