A Flushglaze frameless rooflight from Glazing Vision helps to transform a London home
A young couple living close to the City of London, and surrounded by sleek architectural design, were keen to remodel their home. The installation of a Flushglaze frameless rooflight from Glazing Vision was crucial to unlocking the natural light in their windowless kitchen, while crucially maintaining privacy.
Increasing daylight throughout the dwelling was central to the client brief. Dickson Architects chose the Glazing Vision fixed Flushglaze rooflight to flood the ground floor, open-plan, kitchen-dining space with natural light. The 3550x1293mm frameless rooflight also contributes to the scheme’s minimalist, contemporary aesthetic.
The frameless rooflight maximises daylight transmittance and views out
The 32mm double-glazed unit comprises an 8mm clear, heat-soak tested, toughened outer pane, an 18mm argon-filled warm edge spacer cavity, and a 6mm heat-soak tested, toughened, Low E inner pane. The argon-sealed layer improves both the thermal and acoustic performance of the unit – important factors given the dwelling’s location.
Key to providing a much-needed visual connection to the sky, the frameless rooflight provides a clear view with no visible frames. This complements the overall design ethos of the extension. The high-performance glass also provides optimal light transmittance and thermal efficiency.
