Armstrong Ceilings’ 2018 A Book is aimed at helping architects achieve their ambitions

Armstrong Ceilings is set to deliver insight into some of the most pressing demands facing architects – aesthetics, acoustics, sustainability, wellbeing and installation challenges – while showcasing inspiring projects that is has already undertaken.

Alongside detailed information on Armstrong products used in over 30 European schemes, the 2018 A Book includes feature articles on how to choose the right ceiling solution for a building project. The acoustics section explains how to specify a ceiling that dampens distracting noise and which design to use in an auditorium, where sound must be channelled to reach the audience. Armstrong also explores how to reduce, reuse or recycle material to create ceilings that are new, dynamic and sustainable.

Combining form and function, the 104-page coffee table brochure is also a ‘look book’ of exciting ideas that architects can browse for inspiration. “Rather than present our product range through a conventional catalogue, we want to capture architects’ imaginations by showing the possibilities in real-life scenarios”, explains Michelle Nicholl, Marketing Communications Manager at Armstrong. The projects included range from the headquarters for a world-leading soft drinks producer through to IBM’s new Client Innovation Center in the Czech Republic.

Other standout schemes include the Olympic Hallenbad Indoor Swimming Pool in Switzerland, the refurbished Stanley Black & Decker financial and accounting centre in Poland, and £12.5 million secondary block at the Ystalyfera Welsh Medium Comprehensive School. The latter saw Armstrong supply 2000-square-metres of bespoke canopies, as well as mineral and metal ceiling systems, designed to help students focus and learn.

In terms of sustainability, Armstrong was the first manufacturer in Europe to hold the full Cradle to Cradle Certified™ status for both mineral ceilings and suspension grid systems. Its ‘Armstrong Recycling Programme’ has diverted over 18 million square metres of used ceiling tiles globally from landfills since its launch in 1999.
