Senior Architectural Systems’ PURe® aluminium windows at Brixton Hill Campus in south London, designed by Jestico & Whiles
By providing some of the lowest U-values available, the innovative PURe® aluminium window system from Senior Architectural Systems has helped contractor Bowmer & Kirkland (B&K) make significant cost savings on more than 30 educational framework contracts across the UK.
The high thermal performance of Senior’s PURe® aluminium windows contributed to major cost savings at Kingsley Academy in Hounslow
The aesthetic appeal of Senior’s PURe® windows, combined with their ability to provide U-value improvements of up to a 35 per cent – due to a thermal barrier manufactured from expanded polyurethane foam (PUR) – made them the ideal choice for one of B&K’s most challenging contracts: Brixton Hill Campus in Lambeth, south London. Comprising three separate colleges, the new five-storey campus designed by Jestico & Whiles was subject to strict planning requirements owing to the close proximity of grade II listed Corpus Christi Church. Intended to complement the local context and meet the performance demands of a modern educational facility, the campus makes extensive use of Senior’s PURe® aluminium windows, which were installed by MB Glass.

Senior’s thermally enhanced window solution has also contributed to major cost savings at Kingsley Academy in Hounslow, through reduced reliance on gas central heating. As well as improving the overall carbon calculations of the large five-storey scheme, the specification of Senior’s PURe® window system improved design flexibility by allowing the radiators to be positioned away from the windows. The glazing package was delivered by Senior supply chain partner Dortech Architectural Systems.
