Our experienced team has been designing and crafting staircases, balconies, balustrades and railings for projects across the world for more than 30 years. With a wealth of expertise, we can develop our existing ranges to your project specifications, or work with you to create one-of-a-kind designs at all scales, from homes to major public buildings.
We manufacture our standard staircase and balcony ranges from cast aluminium at our specialist Staffordshire foundry. This material provides all the aesthetic qualities of traditional cast iron, but is lighter, resistant to rust, and less brittle. This means that structural loading requirements can be lower, making it a great solution for existing buildings. However, we can also use cast iron where needed to meet conservation requirements.
Each of the designs can be crafted to your precise needs, including the choice of spindles, height of railings, finish of handrails, design of brackets, and the diameter of spiral staircases. The pieces are then built at our workshop in Derbyshire and can be powder coated in a range of RAL colours. We also work with trusted partners who can provide marine-grade finishes for staircases or balconies installed in seaside or hazardous locations.
In addition to our standard ranges, we can develop your initial concept designs into highly bespoke pieces. Over the years, we have worked with architects and clients to create a wide range of designs from cast aluminium decking plates produced from custom pattern moulds, to modern profiled steel staircases. We seek to understand your needs and advise on the most appropriate materials and approaches to achieve your designs. This is supported with a full in-house design service, producing 2D and 3D CAD models to help you visualise the finished staircase along with all the necessary structural calculations.
We are also experienced in manufacturing designs to meet strict planning restrictions for properties which are Grade listed or located in conservation zones. Our extensive library of patterns spans back to the Georgian era, and we can also work from cut samples, images or drawings of original metalwork to manufacture faithful recreations of existing metalwork.
Through the latest laser scanning technologies, we are able to develop high-definition models of existing buildings ,which capture all of the undulations and idiosyncrasies of older properties. These allow us to develop designs which precisely match the building’s dimensions, ensuring smooth project progression during installation.
