Leading interior designer, Richard Lankester Design Consultants (RLDC), has specified Samuel Heath bathroom fittings as part of the refurbishment of nine residential apartments in London’s Knightsbridge. Originally divided into 24 bedsits over six floors, planning regulations dictated that the Georgian property had to remain as bedsits or studio apartments. RLDC was tasked with creating nine studios, each with its own designated bedroom area.

The brief was to create a cohesive, functional, and comfortable living space, taking existing architectural elements into consideration. State-of-the-art fixtures and fittings have been used, with much of the furniture tailor-made to maximise the space. Marcel Baumhauer da Silva of RLDC explains, “To create space and continuity within the studio apartments we designed them with a sensual and Zen feel in mind, using dark wood, texture, marble and bronze metalwork.”

The calm, high-quality theme of the interiors continues into the bathrooms, with Calacatta Oro marble floors and charcoal-coloured wall tiles offset by pure white sanitaryware and complemented by Samuel Heath’s Fairfield basin and shower fittings finished in City Bronze.

“The Fairfield taps and showers allowed us to continue the high-specification finish of the interiors into the bathrooms, creating a contemporary look, which harmonises beautifully with the Georgian period property”, continues Baumhauer da Silva. “The City Bronze finish is warm and soothing, both in appearance and to the touch, extending the sensual, Zen-like feel of the apartments into the bathrooms.”
