To help designers and specifiers improve building fire safety, stone wool insulation manufacturer ROCKWOOL® has launched a new fire barrier that is product tested in accordance with the latest applicable BS EN standards. This expansion of the range demonstrates the company’s commitment to meeting BS EN standards wherever possible, and is among a series of products recently launched following significant investment in product development. Tested to meet BS EN 1364-1:2015, 50mm Fire Barrier EN is available with a black foil facing on one or both sides.
“Fire Barrier EN has replaced our existing Fire Barrier product,” said Will Wigfield, Product Manager for HVAC & Fire Protection at ROCKWOOL®. “The launch of Fire Barrier EN underlines our commitment to ensuring ROCKWOOL® solutions are tested to EN standards wherever possible, while also simplifying specification with a streamlined range. Customers will see there are areas in which we have expanded the scope of application for Fire Barrier. Subject to the application, Fire Barrier EN offers fire resistance of up to two hours.”
Fire Barrier EN has been tested in a series of common applications, including below concrete soffits and within timber joist constructions. There is also coverage for penetrations, such as steel, copper and plastic pipes, as well as timber beams and cable trays.
Fire Barrier EN was launched on 15th May 2024.
