Duravit introduces its elegant Viu ceramics and XViu furniture series

Described as the bathroom of the future, the Viu ceramics and XViu furniture series from Duravit is a completely new concept in bathroom design. Combining the durability of ceramics with the elegance and precision of aluminium, the Viu and XViu series presents a striking post-industrial elegance; contrasting soft organic forms with a precise geometrically-detailed finish.

The dynamic V-shape profile of the supporting console is a key feature that recurs throughout the series. On free-standing vanity units and bathtub surround, the design creates an almost optical illusion. It appears strong and definite from one angle, yet move a little and its appears to have transformed into fine lines that all but disappear.

This illusion is further enhanced by the choice of textures and surfaces available. Only the finest ceramics, glass and metal, combined with matt lacquers or high-quality woods have been used to create this new range, which encompasses the entire bathroom.

The highlight is a washing area that incorporates Duravit’s patented c-bonded technology. The supporting metal console with its dynamic V-shape profile is available in Champagne Matt or avant garde Black Matt. Its exterior forms a strict rectangle, while the interior curves organically to create a spacious basin that is surrounded by a generous shelf area. The edge of the tap platform acts as a defining outer line, while the underside of the basin is elegantly covered by acrylic panelling. A discreet design feature, which conceals the fixing structure, cables and connecting hoses, ensures that the elaborate technology for the D.1e electronic tap, does not impact the design.

Alternative variants for the washing area include a furniture washbasin, built-in washbasin or above-counter washbasin, and matching vanity unit. These have pull-out compartments or drawer options and feature the striking V-shaped lateral aluminium profiles.

Storage is never an issue in this series, which includes both tall and semi-tall cabinets. The doors are available in semi-transparent smoked glass that only adds to the ethereal feel of XViu.

Another key element of the series is the free-standing bathtub. The prominent metal frame with the signature V-shaped profile in Champagne Matt or Black Matt provides a distinctive contrast to the high-gloss white acrylic and creates an eye-catching centrepiece.

The free-standing bathtub forms a precise rectangle when viewed from above. With its exacting exterior finish, perfect aesthetics and ergonomic and organic free form interior, the XViu bathtub subtly integrates the outlet, which only serves to underline the sophisticated design.

The series features mirrors and mirror cabinets with fully mirrored sides. A sensor switch provides dimmable lighting, plus, for the first time on the mirror cabinets, there is an icon control on the surface of the mirror. Both options also feature the ambient light mode and coloured light switching function. At a luminosity of more than 300 lux, the light colour can be continuously adjusted from 2,700 (warm light) to 6,500 kelvins (cold light).

The XViu bathroom programme can be adapted to suit any individual style. It is available in 34 finishes and combines well with Duravit’s other ceramic series including VeroAir, ME by Starck, and P3 Comforts. In turn, the Viu ceramics can be combined with the XSquare, L-Cube or Brioso furniture series.
