With the introduction of innovative new technology, modern finishes and high-performance acoustic materials, the latest trend in the interiors sector sees multiple moveable wall systems being combined within a single development to deliver highly adaptable space.
“Our range encompasses sliding, rising, folding and even spinning partitioning walls,” says Julian Sargent, Style’s group managing director. “Within the same building, a visually impressive Skyfold vertical-rising system might be used to provide top-level acoustic division in say, the main boardroom. Elsewhere a combination of Dorma Hüppe Variflex glass or solid partitioning panels might be used to create break-out areas, meeting rooms or more informal ‘eat and meet’ areas.
Manual, semi-automatic and fully automatic options allow for further customisation. For smaller spaces, where acoustic performance may not be so important, a folding partitioning offers a quick and simple solution. And appealing to the modern way of working, our bespoke Working Walls spin and glide on a network of ceiling tracks, allowing individuals to gather in small collaborative groups.”
The Londoner – the future of hospitality
Bringing an exciting buzz to the south-west corner of Leicester Square, The Londoner is the world’s first super boutique hotel. Delivering flexible space to cater for a myriad of impressive events, Style worked closely with architect Woods Bagot, interior designer Yabu Pushelberg, and contractors Blue Sky Building and EE Smith Contracts to ensure room hire revenue can be maximised.
The contemporary ballroom is undoubtedly The Londoner’s centrepiece. Allowing two events to run concurrently, the cavernous room is divided by a six-metre high, fully automatic Skyfold moveable wall. Discreetly housed in the ceiling cavity, the oak-veneered wall descends effortlessly into place at the push of a button and, with an incredible 59dB Rw acoustic rating, lively gatherings can take place either side of the wall undisturbed. In the meeting rooms, Style installed semi-automatic Dorma Hüppe Variflex double-glazed moveable walls with 52dB Rw acoustic ratings and fully glazed pass doors. For complete adaptability, the meeting areas are then additionally sub-divided using smaller Skyfold vertical-rising walls.
Anglo American – office space redesigned
At the London offices of global mining company, Anglo American, Style installed a complex arrangement of moveable wall systems to divide a single large space into four individual rooms. Both solid and glass Dorma Hüppe Variflex semi-automatic moveable walls were utilised, as well as vertically rising, fully automatic Skyfold Classic 60 moveable walls.
This combination enables the space to be re-configured quickly into smaller or larger meeting rooms, with the 57dB acoustic rating of the solid moveable wall, 52dB of the glass moveable wall and 59dB of the Skyfold delivering such an exceptional sound barrier that all rooms can host busy meetings without disturbance.
