Architecture Today is launching Regenerative Design 2026, a new month-long exhibition and learning programme that will take place at The Building Centre, London, from 1-30 October 2026.

Built around the Regenerative Architecture Index (RAI), the partnership between Architecture Today and UK Architects Declare, the event marks the first time the Index will have a dedicated physical home. Bringing together architectural practices, engineers, consultants, manufacturers and clients, it aims to showcase the organisations helping to advance regenerative thinking across the built environment while creating opportunities for learning, discussion and collaboration.

Open to both construction professionals and the wider public, the free exhibition will occupy The Building Centre throughout October, presenting the organisations that have participated in the 2026 Regenerative Architecture Index alongside a curated selection of projects that demonstrate regenerative principles in practice.

The exhibition will be open Monday to Friday, providing visitors with an opportunity to explore the work of practices and organisations participating in this year’s Index.

Opening celebration

Regenerative Design 2026 will officially open on the evening of Thursday 1 October with the RAI Opening Reception and Front-Runner Recognition Ceremony, celebrating the organisations participating in this year’s Index and revealing the 2026 front-runners.

The event coincides with the publication of the September/October issue of Architecture Today, which will include the full Regenerative Architecture Index results.

Four weeks of learning and discussion

Alongside the exhibition, Architecture Today will deliver a structured programme of seminars, roundtables, workshops and evening talks exploring the opportunities and challenges of regenerative design.

The programme begins with a scene-setting week examining systems thinking and the principles that underpin the Regenerative Architecture Index before moving through the three core pillars of the framework:

  • Systems thinking and the Regenerative Benchmark
  • Being a Good Ancestor
  • Co-evolving with Nature
  • Creating a Just Space for People

Across the month there will be thirteen events, including morning seminars, invitation-only breakfast roundtables and public evening talks, with additional sessions expected to be added as the programme develops.

Topics currently include regenerative design principles, whole-life carbon, adaptive reuse, circular specification, participative design, biodiversity and social value, alongside specialist workshops and guest events.

Opportunity for Regenerative Architecture Index participants

Every organisation participating in the 2026 Regenerative Architecture Index will be invited to feature within the exhibition through a project case study and will have opportunities to engage with the wider programme of events.

By creating a shared platform for knowledge exchange, Regenerative Design 2026 aims to strengthen collaboration across the industry while demonstrating how regenerative principles can be translated into built projects.

As the first permanent annual home of the Regenerative Architecture Index, the exhibition represents a significant milestone in the continued development of the initiative, providing a focal point for the growing community committed to creating buildings and places that deliver lasting environmental, social and economic value.

Further details of the exhibition and programme, including speakers and booking information, will be announced in the coming months.
