Agnieszka Glowacka, director at Haptic Architects, shares her insights on MIPIM’s value for networking, the challenge of follow-ups, and the importance of diverse representation.
What do you hope to achieve by coming here?
As an architecture practice we find we will rarely come away from an event like MIPIM with a commission, but for us it is about making new connections and strengthening existing relationships. You can meet with more people at MIPIM in a few days than you can in 6 months in London.
And is it working out?
Absolutely. But it’s the follow up that is often the hardest part as normal life resumes.
What’s been the highlight for you?
SwiMIPIM is always a highlight as it is a growing community of adventurous people. I have met many new people over the two years I have taken part. It raises money for Streets of London and is something different to do at MIPIM. It is also a great hangover cure.
If you could change one thing about MIPIM what would it be?
More diverse representation. Also a fringe guide for the multitude of exciting events taking place. There was one some years ago and this was very useful.
What are you working on at the moment?
Personally as COO of the London office I mainly work on the project of Haptic, our people and culture.
What keeps you awake at night?
Global warming, global politics and cashflow.
