In line with Recticel’s commitment to innovation, Eurowall + is designed with the builder and end user in mind. Available in a range of thicknesses from 75mm, the full-fill insulation board’s evolutionary composition means it changes the way a wall works without altering how it is constructed. In terms of thermal capability, Eurowall + can achieve a U-value of 0.18 W/m²K in a traditional 100mm masonry cavity wall, extracting more performance compared to typical partial-fill solutions without widening the footprint of the external wall.

While many rigid full-fill products are 97mm or thicker for a designed cavity width of 100mm, Eurowall + offers a 90mm insulation board to achieve similar thermal performance, at the same time avoiding impeding conventional bricklaying techniques. The reduced thickness also enables Eurowall® + panels to be installed more rapidly than comparable solutions. This minimises on-site labour times resulting in a more sustainable, cost-effective build. It’s an outcome that is abetted by the panels’ lightweight composition, making them easy to transport and where necessary, cut to size.

Eurowall + was the first rigid full-fill insulation board to feature a tongue-and-groove joint on all four edges. This innovation ensures it stands out from comparative products, which typically provide an L-shaped shiplap joint that does not lock boards together. Other products continue to use traditional square-edged boards and require all joints to be taped, an additional costly and time-consuming process that is less robust.

The improved interlocking tongue-and-groove joint provided by Eurowall + provides significant advantages. It easily accommodates wall ties and reduces leakage of warm air through gaps between boards, ensuring consistent thermal performance throughout the wall. Crucially for a cavity wall system, Eurowall + also increases protection against wind-driven and external moisture. When Eurowall + underwent the required wet wall test as part of its BBA certification, it achieved one of the best results ever recorded.

Eurowall + is manufactured using a blowing agent with zero Ozone Depletion Potential (ODP) and low Global Warming Potential (GWP). As part of a ‘fabric-first’ approach, it delivers consistent thermal performance for the lifespan of a building. Its specification displays a commitment to minimising energy consumption, harmful CO2 emissions and impact on the environment. By creating a comfortable fit for installers and optimising a building’s comfort levels Eurowall + is a first-class performer, inside and out.

Case Study: Foreman Homes development
The superb thermal capabilities of Eurowall + made it the insulation of choice for multimillion-pound developments at Hedge End in Southampton, and Ludgershall in Andover for developer Foreman Homes. The project comprised almost 300 plots.

In total, 3,000-square-metres of Eurowall + insulation board was installed across the two developments, with a requirement to ensure each 2-5 bedroom property met regulatory U-value performance. This was achieved without issue – and thanks to the board’s easy handling properties – to the agreed timeframe.

Explaining the decision to specify Eurowall + for both blue-chip housing projects, Gary Hunt, Senior Buyer at Foreman Homes said, “Its high insulation values made Eurowall + the obvious choice for the developments. We not only wanted to achieve NHBC standards in terms of each property’s thermal performance, our ambition was to ensure each home maintained its energy-efficiency for many years to come. Eurowall + will go a long way to helping secure that. For our on-site teams, the rigid foam board was a lot easier to handle than traditional forms of cavity insulation.”

Products such as Eurowall + provide proof of how technical ingenuity can be used to transform a standard PIR panel into a product of outstanding usability and thermal performance for the benefit of the installer and end user. It proves the theory that innovation brings reward. In the case of Eurowall +, this means better insulated, sustainable properties with interiors that optimise occupant comfort and wellbeing whilst being less impactful on the environment.
