Fifteen projects have been unveiled as finalists in the running for the RIBA South West Awards for 2024.
“The shortlisted projects showcase the breadth and diversity of architecture in the South West. Whether that’s exhibiting great sensitivity to their surroundings or respecting the sites’ heritage and cultural history, they strike the perfect balance,” said RIBA South West jury chair Graham Bizley, of Prewett Bizley Architects. “It’s particularly heartening to see the projects carbon credentials which demonstrate a commitment to low-carbon and low-energy construction.”
Regional award winners will be considered for further ‘RIBA Special Awards,’ including the RIBA Sustainability Award and RIBA Building of the Year, before being considered for the RIBA National Award, which will be announced later this year in summer. From that, the shortlist for the RIBA Stirling Prize will be compiled, with the shortlist announced this September and the winners unveiled in October.
