Brian Mallon, Director at Hawkins\Brown, tells AT where he believes the architect’s role lies in solving the housing crisis in Ireland.
What is the architects role in tackling the housing crisis?
I think the role of the architect in tackling the housing crisis is not that we’re going to solve the problem on our own, but that we have certain skills that help us to work across all the different disciplines, to bring them together, and to help find a way to bring together the different interests – and different competing interests – and strands that can create better communities as well as addressing the need for housing in Ireland.
