As the bathroom continues to evolve into a more expressive and emotionally considered space, the demand for adaptable design solutions is growing. Architects, designers and specifiers are increasingly seeking collections that offer more than cohesion alone – systems that provide the flexibility to respond to individual briefs, spatial constraints and personal preferences, while leaving room for creative interpretation.
The most successful bathroom collections act as a design toolkit: a carefully composed palette of forms, materials and finishes that can be configured to suit different lifestyles, interior languages and architectural contexts. They create a framework for individuality – a canvas on which designers can articulate both their own vision and the unique expectations of their clients.
Villeroy & Boch’s Skyla collection responds precisely to this need. Combining soft curves with defined edges and subtle asymmetry, it offers a contemporary design language that feels distinctive yet highly versatile. Its strength lies not in imposing a fixed aesthetic, but in enabling multiple interpretations – from Scandinavian restraint and warm minimalism to softer, more expressive interiors shaped by colour and texture.
At the heart of the collection is the washplace, conceived as both practical anchor and visual focal point. Here, Skyla’s design language comes into sharpest focus. Clean external lines are softened by the organic form of the basin, creating a balanced interplay between precision and fluidity. The asymmetrical basin introduces an integrated storage surface, adding everyday functionality while preserving visual clarity.
This sense of calm extends into the furniture, where inset fronts and discreet recessed handles reinforce a tidy, architectural appearance. A seamless transition between ceramic and cabinetry allows the washplace to read as a single, coherent element – carefully resolved, yet adaptable to a wide variety of interiors.
Versatility is central to the collection’s appeal. With six size options, from compact 55cm configurations to more expansive 120cm layouts, Skyla can respond equally well to spatially efficient urban bathrooms and more generous private suites. Optional open compartments on selected vanity units introduce further flexibility, while enhancing the collection’s distinctive asymmetrical character.
Colour and materiality offer additional scope for expression. A palette of eight contemporary furniture finishes – from timeless Brilliant White to calming Soft Green and warm Nordic Oak – allows designers to shape atmosphere with nuance and precision. These choices make it possible to create bathrooms that feel highly individual while maintaining visual coherence.
Skyla’s coordinated taps, available in Chrome and Matt Black, extend this design language across the wider bathroom, supporting a unified spatial identity. At the same time, integrated technologies such as AquaSmart address the growing demand for more sustainable specification, balancing reduced water consumption with everyday comfort.
The collection also offers flexibility in toilet design, with both round and square options available to emphasise either softer organic forms or sharper architectural lines. Each incorporates TwistFlush, combining water efficiency, hygiene and ease of maintenance.
Taken together, Skyla is more than a bathroom collection – it is a versatile design framework for creating spaces that feel personal, considered and enduring. At a time when individuality and adaptability are increasingly central to residential design, it offers architects and designers the freedom to compose bathrooms that reflect not only practical needs, but the character and aspirations of those who use them.
Skyla can be experienced at Villeroy & Boch’s London Design & Specification Centre at 76 Clerkenwell Road, London EC1M 5QA.
