The founder of Exploration Architecture, co-founder of UK Architects Declare and globally recognised thought leader on regenerative design will set out his thinking on pathways for a regenerative future at an evening event on Wednesday 14th October.

Michael Pawlyn of Exploration Architecture and will outline his vision for pathways for a regenerative future on Wednesday 14th October at an evening event delivered in partnership with Interface at the Building Centre on Store Street in central London.
Pawlyn has a built an international reputation as a thought leader in regenerative design and the circular economy. He is one of only a small handful of architects to have a talk posted on TED.com, which has since had over 1.8 million views. The co-founder of UK Architects Declare, he was a pivotal figure in the launch of the Regenerative Architecture Index. His book Biomimicry in Architecture has been the publisher’s best-selling title. His practice, Exploration Architecture, founded in 2007, recently became the first architecture practice to formally appoint nature and future generations to its board.
Prior to setting up Exploration Architecture he worked with Grimshaw for ten years and was central to the team that radically re-invented horticultural architecture for the Eden Project. He was responsible for leading the design of the Warm Temperate and Humid Tropics Biomes and the subsequent phases. He initiated the Grimshaw environmental management system resulting in the company becoming the first firm of European architects to achieve certification to ISO14001.
Pawlyn’s talk, Pathways for a regenerative future, will make the case that, to meaningfully address the planetary emergency, we need an epochal shift. He will present ideas for what this means for built environment professionals and outline why it is important that we develop a common sense of where regenerative design ultimately needs to be aiming.
Launched by Architecture Today, Regenerative Design 2026 is a month-long programme of exhibitions and events that takes place at the Building Centre throughout October 2026.
