Bespoke specification is one of our core offerings at Crown Paints and it’s one of a range of services that are designed to help our architecture, design and specification clients make the best decisions when it comes to procuring paint for projects. We’re not just experts in colour. We know that specifying paints means working closely with our customers to make sure the paint chosen matches the building requirements and lasts for years to come.

Our new online hub – Crown Paints Professional – for architects, designers and specifiers showcases all our specification services in one area. The website can be used to build custom specifications using our PaintSpec Finder® tool, which provides instant and technically detailed specification plans. Whether you need Information on fire protection, VOCs, or how to make the most out of our colour services to support you in choosing the best coatings for the job, we have you covered.

Service & value engineering
Every project has its unique challenges, including tight schedules and budgets. We can help to provide cost engineered solutions through our products and services, such as assistance in developing cyclical maintenance programmes to ensure optimum value.

NBS specifications and BIM downloads
At Crown Paints, we recognise that to specify effectively, you need the right tools that give you the certainty you need. This is why as an NBS Source partner our products are all available on NBS platforms. It ensures that everyone involved in the design, supply and construction of the built environment can work together in an integrated way, and we’re pleased to be playing our part in helping foster collaboration and efficiency in the sector.

We have a host of BIM objects for our Crown Trade, Sadolin and Sandtex Trade products that are available via the National BIM Library. Our products are also represented under Common Arrangement of Works Category M60 and relevant Uniclass categories.

Fire Safety
Paint is a key factor of any fire risk assessment, with The Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005 (England & Wales), the Fire (Scotland) Act, and the Fire safety Act 2021 all outlining the potential hazard of flame spread on painted surfaces. By using specialised paint products and other safety precautions, the risks can be minimised, and buildings are able to stay within the current regulations.

Products such as our Timonox paint systems are designed to fit into systems that slow the spread of fire. But we don’t just offer products, our expertise helps customers navigate the specification of Timonox paint systems to ensure the right solution for complex legislative requirements and guidance.

Colour services
Colour is at the centre of everything we do as a business. To us, colour is an immensely powerful tool that can create and change moods, inspire people, boost productivity, and help foster wellbeing. We’re passionate about creating environments that use colours individually developed for the needs of the design.

As part of our expertise on colour, we have a range of services designed to support architects, designers and specifiers, including our Pure Paint Samples, Interior Colour Book, Colour Match Scanner – ColourKey – and Matching Service and our Crown Paints Colour Fandeck. Each is designed to help inspire your use of colour and help pick the best schemes for your projects.

CPD
We’re proud to offer a variety of seminars to help you improve and keep up to date the skills in your team. Our CPDs delve into topics such as colour in education, effective paint specification and delivering paint sustainably, with expert speakers who deliver training face-to-face or via video call.

CSR
At Crown we believe it’s possible to paint a greener world, which is why we have committed to a number of sustainable initiatives across our business. These include Can Back, our paint can recycling scheme, which was extended in early 2021 to allow paint containers from any manufacturer to be recycled throughout our Crown Decorating Centre network, as well as our recycling partnership with NIMTECH, a social enterprise providing employment opportunities for the hard-to-reach and long-term unemployed.

Being a responsible business and having the expertise required to help with any paint specification means we’re confident that, whether you’ve worked with us before, or it’s the first time, Crown Paints will be a go-to resource for any project.
